Put to the test: Electric shaver test report 2017
Twelve shavers were scrutinised to find the candidates that make your daily shave easier. The model that stands alone on the winner's podium is the "Braun Series 9". Find out which criteria it had to fulfil and which six models are hot on its heels with a "good" test result.
"Stiftung Warentest" publishes annual test reports on electronics, household appliances and the like and rates them according to the German grading system. We have summarised the small but significant differences between the tested models for you:
1st place: "good", grade: 1.9
The Braun Series 9 - 9290cc
The test winner does not differentiate between dry and lathered stubble and, above all, has no excuses for three-day beards. Every day, it takes the work out of shaving quietly and with little vibration, while lying comfortably in your hand. It leaves a pleasant feeling and lets your skin shine in a flawless light.
- Shaving: 2.2
- Skin protection: 1.7
- Handling: 1.6

2nd place: "good", grade: 2.0
These two candidates are characterised by their solid performance in dry and wet shaving. Their waterproof design and flawless workmanship also make them easy to use in the shower. Here, too, your three-day beard will be afraid of the good and, above all, barely audible performance in the morning. So you can start the day gently with both. The main difference between them is the battery performance. The Philips model performs slightly better here.
The Braun Series 3 - 3040s
Thanks to "MicroComb" technology, more hair is captured than with conventional shavers, so you need fewer strokes to reach your goal with this Braun model. This is particularly noticeable during the endurance test of shaving a three-day beard

In third place are four shavers that are in no way inferior to each other in terms of ease of use, workmanship and skin-friendliness. They get the job done reliably on beards of all kinds and treat your skin in an exemplary manner. They are suitable for dry and wet shaving.
Braun Series 7 - 7850cc
The first shaver with turbo mode and 10,000 micro-movements per minute effortlessly works its way through your thick beard growth. The intelligent Sonic technology continuously analyses your beard and automatically adapts to it for a perfect result. Thanks to the best battery performance, it wins the "handling" category with a score of "very good" (1.5).
