Ply, a carpet that's good for you
"Ply was designed by Margrethe Odgaard, whose vision was to create a carpet that would stand alone in a room. I think she succeeded, because I couldn't resist.
I'd been looking for a rug for a while that I could put in front of the bed to make the whole thing cosier. After a few wanderings through online and offline shops, I found what I wanted: 'Ply', a rug by Danish designer Margrethe Odgaard. As the rug is hand-woven, I had to wait four weeks to receive it. Now I wouldn't see another one in my bedroom.
Appearance
It's appearance no longer sticks to the hallmarks of Scandinavian design. Both elegant and functional, it draws on traditional craftsmanship despite looking thoroughly modern. It blends into any room and creates a warm ambience. Finally, its features blend perfectly with the spirit of the Muuto brand, which makes this designer's creations accessible to a wide audience.

After graduating in 2005, Margrethe Odgaard worked as a printing assistant in Philadelphia and then as a textile designer in Paris before founding her own design studio in Copenhagen in 2013. She is also part of the "Included Middle" design studio alongside furniture designer Chris L. Halstrøm. Today, she designs a wide range of products for the big names in the furniture industry: covers for Skagerak, tablecloths for Georg Jensen, the tableware specialist, and fabrics for Kvadrat, the textile benchmark for all interior designers. The following video talks about his rug design for Muuto and gives an insight into Ply's creative process.
The Ply rug is available in three sizes (85 x 140, 170 x 240 and 200 x 300 cm) and five wool colour combinations. I vacuum it regularly, as Muuto recommends, turn it over every six months and clean it with soda water if I get it dirty.
