The presentation combines realistic landscapes with stylised effects, such as weather changes or special attacks.
Gameplay and mechanics
Atsu fights with traditional weapons such as the katana and bow, but also with the kusarigama. This is a chain with a sickle. You learn new techniques from masters you meet in the game. A mechanic forces you to retrieve lost weapons in battle. This should increase the dynamics and pressure in battles.
The dynamic weather system influences visibility and enemy behaviour. You will be accompanied by a wolf that reacts at certain moments but cannot be controlled. Side missions such as Zenihajiki (a form of coin tossing) or painting with the touchpad complement the main story. After the end credits, you can continue to explore the world freely.
Special editions
Sony is launching three special editions for the release of the game. There is a controller in the «Ghost of Yōtei» design, a PS5 in a special design including controller and digital game code as well as a Collector's Edition with digital content and physical extras such as a mask, tsuba and art cards.
