The two portafilter machines promise barista-quality coffee enjoyment at home. There is also a separate frother for milk specialities.

The secret to a perfect espresso with a good crema lies in the choice of beans, the right grind for the machine and the pressure with which the hot water is pressed through the portafilter. This is almost a science in itself and requires some experience. With its two Baristina models, Philips wants to make it easier for you to get started in the world of portafilter machines.

Grind, brew and enjoy at the touch of a button

Both devices work in a similar way to fully automatic coffee machines. You select the desired beverage and insert the portafilter. The machine does the rest: the integrated grinder grinds fresh coffee into the portafilter and compacts («tampers») the ground coffee automatically. The machine then presses the water through the ground coffee at a pump pressure of 16 bar. You then empty the coffee grounds and the machine is ready for the next cup.

Baristina BAR300/00 - the compact entry-level model

The model focuses on the essentials: You have the choice between espresso and café crema. According to Philips, it only takes one minute before you can enjoy your coffee. The water tank of the five-kilogram machine holds 1.2 litres. The bean container holds 170 grammes. At 180 × 345 × 380 millimetres (W × H × D), the Baristina doesn't take up much space. You can choose between black and white for the colours.

If you like your coffee a little stronger, you can optionally use the «intensity boost function» After selecting the beverage, press the corresponding button and more coffee grounds will end up in the portafilter.

Baristina Plus BAR500/00: more variety in stainless steel

The Plus version differs from the basic model not only in its stainless steel housing. It also has an additional recipe, «Iced Coffee». Strictly speaking, however, this only involves brewing at a lower temperature. The machine cannot produce ice cubes for iced coffee.

The remaining functions are the same as the basic model. The water tank and bean container are the same size and you can also brew stronger and change the amount of coffee at the touch of a button.

The milk frother as a supplement for cappuccino or latte macchiato

Matching the portafilter machine, you will find the mechanical milk frother for cold and hot milk froth in our range.

The 19.5 × 11.2 centimetre appliance has a capacity of 120 millilitres and is designed to process all types of milk, including plant-based alternatives. According to Philips, the milk foam is ready in two minutes. The appliance can be rinsed out after use and the lid and stirrer can go in the dishwasher.
