Nine wall clocks that up the style stakes

Now that I've replaced my smartphone's alarm feature with a «real» alarm clock in my bedroom, I'd like to adorn my hallway with a wall clock. Here are my Galaxus finds in the form of a shortlist.

My New Year's resolution for 2019 is putting my phone down more often, but the fact that I pick it up every time I want to check the time because I don't wear a watch or have a wall clock makes things tricky. I've already put an alarm clock (article in German) on the bedside table, reducing my smartphone use a little. So, the next step is putting up a wall clock in the middle of the entrance hall. That way, I'll see it from the bathroom too and know exactly how far I can extend my makeup routine.

As I don't just want any clock, I've carefully trawled through our product range to select nine eyecatching styles:

Flipping out

The Karlsson «Flip» is a charming option. Its design is inspired by an old-fashioned flip clock, making it a stylish addition to homes with a vintage or industrial vibe. It can be attached to the wall or stand on a flat surface.

Black is the new black

«All in Black» is the motto for this clock – hands and all – but the oversized look still makes it easy to tell the time. Combine the Zuiver «Bandit» with a dark wall for a subtle look, or create stunning contrast on a white wall.

Abstract

As its name suggests, Zuiver's «Minimal» wall clock is the perfect choice for lovers of sleek interiors. Its design is based on the essence of a pendulum clock. Designer Rik van Mierlo consciously chose metal and plastic over solid wood to give the clock a modern look. The silhouette alone embodies this iconic clock.

Animal attraction

Prefer playful design? If so, an illustrated clock is a must-have. Styles like Nextime's «Tropical Birds» replace wall art and add warmth. Its all-wood design with multicoloured hands would make a great addition to a boho home.

Classic

As delicate as its namesake's wings, the Karlsson «Butterfly»'s thin dial lines are a standout feature. Without any additional fussy details, this design by Ruben van Boxtel and Reinier Buijs is timeless. It would fit in seamlessly in a range of different settings, including bedrooms.

Almost invisible

Did you have to look twice before realising that Nextime's «Hands» was a wall clock? Me too. It dispenses with one of its most characteristic features: the iconic round case. It is hardly noticeable on the wall and stirs the imagination. When you do finally notice it, it challenges you to draw the circle in your head.

Tasteful

The «Norm» wall clock by Menu follows the simple Scandinavian approach and focuses on the essentials: the hands are brass, while the rest is marble. The grain makes every one unique.

Innovative

The «Classic» by Qlocktwo is by far one of the most unconventional clocks on the market. Unlike most others, there are no hands. The time is displayed in lights in different languages. The light intensity adapts to its surroundings.

Concrete

In contrast to traditional pendulum clocks, the Zuiver «Tiktak»'s modern look is down to its main component: cement. The rough material is refined by a copper-hued pendulum and hands.
