New live-action "Turtles" film in the works - and it's going to be bloody

Paramount Pictures wants to build on the success of last year's animated film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" with a new live-action film. The film is based on the comic "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin".

The comic is based on an idea that the "Turtles" creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird had back in 1987. It was published from 2020 to 2022. In 2023, it appeared as an anthology and was the second best-selling comic of the year.

Tyler Burton Smith is responsible for the script of the upcoming film. He has already co-written the script for the upcoming film "Boy Kills World". It will be produced by 18hz Productions, which is headed by Walter Hamada - the former head of DC Films. Nothing more is known at the moment.

A sixth live-action film is now set to follow with "The Last Ronin". Also in development is a video game based on the comic. Incidentally, the sequel to last year's animated film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" is scheduled for release in 2026.
