Neo-ecology: the megatrend of the coming years

The world's largest sports trade fair in Munich is not just a navel-gazing event for the industry. ISPO also highlights the trends of the coming years. The megatrend in the 2020s is neo-ecology.
The trends of the next few years? Sport will become synonymous with health and everything will be digitalised. However, the megatrend is neo-ecology. This refers to sustainability and efficiency in all areas: from finance and urban planning to ethical consumption. Put simply: eco is no longer a fringe phenomenon consisting of a few people in Birkenstock loafers, but the new mainstream.
Backpack without plastic
An example? The Norwegian clothing brand Bergans of Norway has joined forces with the Finnish biofibre manufacturer Spinnova with the aim of further developing cellulose-based textile fibres. The first result of this collaboration is the "Collection of tomorrow". This is designed according to the principles of the circular economy. The backpack from this collection has just been honoured with an ISPO Award in the Sustainability category.

The backpack is mainly made from wood fibres, which are 100 per cent recyclable. Bergans of Norway does not use any plastic in the production process. You can see in the video above whether the item manages without the usual zips, eyelets or clip fasteners.
