Miu Miu is leading the way: how to get the double shoelace look
Sometimes, breathing new life into something old is so simple it’s hard to believe. Like giving your sneakers a complete makeover with an extra pair of laces.
Almost a year ago, Italian luxury fashion brand Miu Miu teamed up with US sporting goods manufacturer New Balance and brought a shoe to market called 530 SL.

What was special about the reinterpretation of the classic New Balance 530 wasn’t so much its narrow silhouette or plain versions in cinnamon, ecru, white or black. Nope, what really made the 530 SL interesting was a plain but crucial detail: its laces.
Instead of relying on one pair of single-coloured pair laces like 99 per cent of other lace-up shoes, the 530 SL has two per shoe. Sure, this may look a little messy and awkward at first glance, but it’s also fun and turns any sneaker, no matter how simple, into an eye-catcher. Of course, I had to give it a whirl!
