Is this the new PS5 Slim?

Images and videos of a new PS5 model have surfaced online. This could be the slim version with a removable drive.
According to rumours, Sony will launch a new version of the PS5 on the market by the end of the year. This is said to be narrower and smaller than the original PS5 hardware. According to Insider Gaming, the revised console will be a version with a detachable Blu-ray drive. This should be able to be installed via an additional USB-C port on the back of the device.
An initial image of the revised PS5 has now surfaced in a Chinese forum. The console is labelled PS5 Slim with model number CFI-2016. Visually, the model stands out above all due to the two split faceplates.

Shortly after the leaked image, X user @BwE_Dev publishes a short video of a hardware dummy. In it, the two-part faceplates are even more visible. The removable Blu-ray drive is already installed on the right-hand side of the console. The video confirms the rumours from Insider Gaming that the drive can be docked flush to the PS5 Slim and does not look like an external peripheral. However, the console is no longer slim. Another new feature is the additional USB-C port on the front of the device. This replaces the USB-A port on the normal PS5 version.
According to Insider Gaming, the new hardware iteration will replace the previous PS5 models in the long term. The PS5 Slim will be commercially available without a Blu-ray drive. The drive can be purchased separately if required. A bundle with the drive included is also planned.
When the PS5 Slim will be available is still unclear. Various sources confirm to Insider Gaming that it could be available as early as September. Microsoft is also expecting Sony to launch the console this year. The information was leaked from secret documents in the legal dispute between Microsoft and the US regulatory authority FTC. According to Microsoft, the console will cost 399.99 dollars - the same price as the current digital version of the PS5.
