In seventh heaven
As well as mattresses, Sleepwell24 offers three essential services: personalised advice, free delivery including installation and a 30-night trial. After 60 nights on it, I've found my perfect match.
The first mattress I ordered online without first trying it out was for my student bedroom in 2010. My friend warned me at the time: "Ordering a mattress this way is a brave thing to do."
It's true. And I am. It saves me countless visits to the shops and the unpleasant moments when I have to lie on them to try them out. Who can tell on the spot whether model X or Y will improve the quality of sleep?
In my opinion, you can't be sure until you've tried them out for a few nights. Hence my interest in Sleepwell24.ch. Eight years having passed since my last purchase, I'm looking for a new mattress and want to call on the Swiss manufacturer's services in this area. My experience shows me once again that an online purchase, even for a mattress, is not the end of the world after all.
Personal chat with "Sir Matt"
It goes without saying that there can't be just one mattress model, but taking a look at our range, I'm taken aback. Sleepwell24.ch alone offers 3 mattress models with different degrees of firmness and dimensions. So I clicked on the first model that popped up on the online shop and pulled out my phone to speak to Sir Matt, the consultant, to get some information. Have you always hesitated to buy online because there was no one to talk to? If so, the services offered by this company will certainly end up convincing you.
At the other end of the line, a friendly male voice greets me with a "Sir Matt speaking". He asks me questions about my age, degree of firmness and sleeping position. He politely asks me if I suffer from allergies, back problems and whether I tend to sweat a lot or a little - rather indiscreet questions in any other context. After determining my needs based on my information, Sir Matt is soon able to suggest a model - the "Basel mid-firm" - while explaining the reasons.

Because I don't suffer from back problems or allergies and I sleep on my side as well as my back, the "Basel mi-ferme" model suits me; it contains a soft foam core while offering optimum support in the middle. After a couple of questions from me, he tells me what to do next. I have the right to test this model for 30 days. Once I've placed my order, I set a delivery date. After ten days, I welcome Sir Matt and his work colleague.
Delivery to bedroom and installation
As agreed, the two men, dressed identically - i.e. white gloves and shoe protectors - deliver the mattress to me and collect the plastic packaging at the end, so I don't have to worry about a thing.

Once the mattress is in place, Sir Matt explains to me how to remove the zip cover for washing and turn the mattress using the side buckles.
Sleepwell24.ch always offers a slatted base to match its mattresses. But as I already have one, I'm taking the opportunity to ask the delivery man to explain the advantages of their slatted base over mine. The "Flex Bern" slatted base allows you to manually adjust the degree of firmness in certain areas, such as the shoulders to prevent arching of the back. It's like a car that only develops its full power with specially designed tyres. Nevertheless, my current slatted base is OK, not least because it's curved upwards - as it should be - and still offers enough tension.

Aesthetics...
Nothing but the cover shows that the product has been thought through to the last detail, impeccably finished and quilted like a Chanel bag. I like what I see even though the mattress cover will disappear under the bed linen. Despite the 30-day test offered, 14 is enough for me to know whether such a beautiful envelope conceals an interior to match.

30-day trial with right of exchange
After making the bed, I notice that the surface is slightly visible, which doesn't change the comfort that said, as the seams remain very discreet. But I could always opt for a fleece if that bothered me.
When it comes to comfort, doubts creep up on me after two weeks of trying them on. Despite the reinforced layer in the middle, I sink in more than I'd like, resulting in neither pain nor insomnia, but a feeling of discomfort when I wake up. I conclude that the degree of firmness is too low for me.
So I contact Sir Matt again before the 30 days are up to tell him about my little worries. He suggests I replace the model with the 'Zürich' variant, which supports the kidneys better. In a way, I could have guessed from the start that 'Basel' wasn't for me. After all, I love Zurich because I live there. Once the new delivery date had been agreed, it was back to the testing part. The results? I kept the 'Zürich' model, on which I sleep wonderfully well.
Conclusion

At all times, I felt at ease during the concise consultation phase and was very quickly given an alternative to the mattress model I was not happy with. The mattress test period allowed me to make a final decision. Apart from two calls lasting around 15 minutes each and two 10-minute home deliveries, I didn't have to lift a finger or waste any time in the shops. Manufacturers such as Eve Sleep or Caspar offer similar services, but they don't deliver the mattress to the bedroom and they don't produce in Switzerland. Nor do they have a Sir Matt to advise you.
For people like me for whom aesthetics play an important role, it's the little details that make the difference: the elegantly concealed buckles and the removable quilted cover akin to a designer bag finally won me over. I can't fault the comfort of the mattress either, which depends on the type of sleep you get. I'd like to invite you to give online mattress ordering a go, if only to see two sexy delivery men arrive at your door ;)
