Ice-cream makers on trial

What would summer be without ice cream? With an ice cream maker, you can make this tasty dessert quickly and easily at home. In "falstaff" magazine, it's all about food, wine and travel. This month, the editorial team tested 6 ice-cream makers. Find out which machines in our range were the most convincing when it came to delivering delicious ice cream at the touch of a button.
The test
Four machines with a refrigeration compressor were tested. Rather like a refrigerator, it already cools the mass during preparation. Two models with cold accumulators were also tested. These were placed in the freezer for 24 hours before preparation. Admittedly, ice-cream makers with compressors are more expensive to buy, but can be used spontaneously thanks to their electric cooling.
The appliances have been tested according to the ice cream prepared as well as the use. The preparation time recommended by the manufacturer was adhered to.
Test results
Here is the ranking of the appliances tested by "falstaff", available in our range.
1st place: unexpected winner without a compressor
Advantages: ice consistency after just a few minutes / perfectly creamy (but not solid) after 40 minutes / silent / compact design / large volume (1.6l)
Disadvantages: requires a large freezer tray / opens without a lid

3rd place: design freezer with touch screen
Advantages: good ice consistency after just 30 minutes / informative screen / large volume (2l) / large opening with lid
Disadvantages: the mass freezes at the rim / creamy ice, but sprinkled with ice crystals
4th place: practical
Advantages: good mixing performance / no freezing at the rim / creamy result / machine washable
Disadvantages: heavy / noisy / small volume (600g) / little compact ice / grooves difficult to clean
5th place: perfect for two flavours
Advantage: two containers for making two fragrances or for a double portion
Disadvantages: open without lid / mass freezes at rim / consistency too soft with ice crystals / not machine washable
