For the birth of my niece, I wanted to make a more unusual and special shape instead of a classic nappy cake. After a little research, I came across a nappy carriage. I'll show you here how you can make one yourself and what you need for it.

A nappy cake is not only beautiful to look at, but also excellent for the new parents, who receive a whole supply of nappies and a whole host of other items for their little one.

For this you need:

  • 1 cardboard base
  • 1 paper lantern
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive tape
  • About 50 nappies
  • 2 bibs
  • Gauze nappies
  • 1 soft toy
  • Decorative accessories such as beads, adhesive gift ribbons, transparent gift wrap, wrapping paper for the base of the box, etc.
  • Milk bottle set for newborns
  • Baby shoes
  • 1 toy cuddle cloth
  • 1 baby blanket
  • Individual baby products to complement

Use all of these products to create the individual elements of the carriage.

And this is how it works:

  1. First of all, get a cardboard base and cover it with wrapping paper. You'll need this at the end to place the nappy carriage. Next, you'll need a paper lantern for the shape of the carriage. You need to enlarge the opening of the lantern slightly on both sides to make it easier to store small presents in the carriage.
  2. Continue with the wheels. You will need two rolls of wrapping paper for this. As the paper rolls are quite long, you should shorten them slightly so that the paper lantern fits exactly between the wheels. To guarantee a stable stand for the carriage, first roll up four nappies and fill the sides of the wrapping paper rolls with one rolled nappy each.
  3. For the wheels, you now need to wrap six nappies lengthways on all sides of the paper rolls and secure them with two elastic bands each. You can then cover the attached nappies with the gauze nappies and secure them in a circle with two strips of adhesive ribbon each.
  4. Wrap a baby blanket around the remaining nappies and place them in the lantern. You can now decorate the lantern as you wish. For example, I used two bibs and a princess crown. Then attach the string of beads to the front wheels and wrap them around the soft toy. Now you can place the lantern on the wheels and fill it with the little presents.
  5. To make the rims of the carriage look nice, you can put artificial flowers between the nappies, for example. I glued coins to the rims of my carriage to make them look nice.
  6. Finally, place the nappy carriage on the cardboard base and wrap it with the transparent gift wrap.

When it comes to office supplies, I believe in form and function. From pens, scissors, paper notes to glittery glue and funky folders. That’s what I’m about at work. When I’m not busy checking out the latest desk accessories, I enjoy jetting off to remote corners of the world, lifting weights or taking an evening walk.
