How to make a cute gift tag

Since a gift comes from the heart, an embroidered heart fits perfectly on the packaging. You can easily make this yourself together with your child.

Everything has to be pompous and extravagant at Christmas time. The biggest Christmas tree, the most lights, the most beautiful gift wrapping... Many people drive themselves completely crazy and put themselves under pressure. Does it really have to be like this?

I'll show you how you can create beautiful gift wrapping with a heart using very simple materials.

Achieve your goal with just two materials

You probably have an old cardboard box lying around at home that you no longer need. For children's hands, a thin cardboard is ideal, which you can find in writing pads or packaging, for example. You will also need some brightly coloured yarn. Scissors, a needle and a base will help you with the craft.

Let's get crafting

Depending on the age of your child, cut out the cardboard hearts or let your child do it. They can make holes in the heart with a needle (or a prickle needle). Use a thick base made of felt or scrap wood so that no holes are left in the table.

Give your child a needle and some yarn (an arm's length should be enough) and let them thread it. First tie a knot at the back of the heart and when the thread is used up, tie a knot at the end. In between, stitch through each hole with a needle and thread until a spider's web is created.

The heart looks best on simple wrapping paper. Use the same yarn again for the ribbon. Either tie the heart in place with a piece of yarn or glue it on.

Have you noticed how quickly and easily such an idea can be realised? You don't even have to write a card, the recipient's name goes on your self-made heart.

My students, but also my own children, inspire me every day with their wild imaginations. I love to document the creative projects that come from them on my blog Fantasiewerk. I hope to inspire many moms and dads to do crafts with their children. [Fantasiewerk.ch](https://fantasiewerk.ch)
