Here to stay: The single earring trend
"It's not a match" - and that's a good thing. Wearing earrings on just one ear has been a tried-and-tested trend on the fashion scene for a good three years now and was pioneered by style icon Madonna back in the 80s. Nevertheless, the trend is rarely seen on the street. Admittedly, it takes a certain amount of courage to go out and about with single earrings, as you could be met with criticism. But I can only see the good things about the trend and tell you why you should celebrate it too.
The single life is not only celebrated in love, but also currently by design greats such as Balenciaga on the catwalk. Four years ago, the French fashion house "Dior" kicked things off with a single pearl earring. Today, the style is just as much a part of the "signature style" as wearing unique pairs of earrings at brands such as Marni.
5 advantages that the trend brings
- Effects like "comfort food" in the event of loss: If you lose one of your favourite pair of earrings, you still have a spare pair that you can devote all your attention to.
- Suitable for every budget: Regardless of the price, you can also wear each earring you already own individually. This way, you can update your style without having to spend money on it.
- A whole new range of styling options opens up: Simply pin your hair to one side and your piece of jewellery takes centre stage. Soft waves together with the earring emphasise your face in a refreshingly different way and make a statement.
- Less is more: XXL earrings can quickly distract from the face - a single one can skilfully set the scene. A nice side effect is also that you have less to wear with heavy articles.
- It's all in the mix: If you only have one of each earring left, you can also combine them with each other. This goes hand in hand with the "one earring trend". It would be a shame to leave the leftovers alone in the jewellery box. It's better to find new ways to "match" the single earrings. It looks really good on the selfie to photograph the face from the side. In any case, as we all know, you only have one favourite side to show. :)
