Get the day off to a good start - with my personal breakfast favourites

Dieting and giving up good food has never been an option for me. A balanced and healthy diet that tastes good is a more suitable option for me. I'll show you a few of my favourites here that I can't imagine a hearty breakfast without.
Of course, things have to be quick during the week, but for me, a smoothie is simply part of a Sunday breakfast. There are so many different recipes, but I've picked out one of my favourites for you.
Berry smoothie
Ingredients
- 200 ml orange juice
- ½ ripe banana
- 100g frozen berries (e.g. raspberries or wild berries)
- 2 tbsp cranberries
- 1½ tbsp honey
- 1 small piece of ginger
- a squeeze of lime
- 1 tbsp oat flakes
Preparation
First of all, you need to defrost the frozen berries
. Peel the banana, cut into pieces and blend together with the defrosted berries and the remaining ingredients in a blender on the highest setting until smooth. Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh fruit.
Chill until ready to serve.

Muesli is also a must for Sunday brunch. Not just any muesli, of course, but homemade muesli with fresh fruit.
Berry muesli
Ingredients
- 35 g of grainy rolled oats
- 7 ½ g flaked almonds
- 7 ½ g coarsely chopped walnuts
- 2 ½ g pine nuts (approx. 7 tsp)
- ⅕ tsp cinnamon
- 12 ½ g liquid honey
- ½ tbsp oil
- 10 g dried fruit (e.g. apricots, sultanas, figs)
- fresh berries in all varieties
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients except the fruit in a bowl. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (fan oven not recommended, gas: level 2) for 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Then leave to cool. Cut the dried fruit into small pieces and mix into the muesli. Store in a tightly sealed tin. Serve in portions with fresh fruit, e.g. berries, and milk or yoghurt as desired.

Guacamole spread
Avocado is also a berry and one of my absolute favourite fruits. I can't imagine life without the fruit as a spread. Avocados are also perfect for shakes. The high dietary fibre content in the exotic fruit stimulates digestion. Avocados also have a positive effect on blood lipid levels: they lower LDL cholesterol and increase the good HDL cholesterol.
Ingredients
- 1 large, ripe avocado
- Salt
- Pepper
- chilli
- Juice of ½ a lime
- Ev. onion or garlic (depending on flavour)
- 1 tomato
Preparation
Mash the ripe avocado with a fork. Then add lime juice, diced tomato, garlic, salt, pepper and chilli and place in a bowl in the fridge together with the avocado stone. Guacamole is suitable as a dip, spread, filling or for salads. When serving as a dip, use the juice of the lime to prevent unpleasant discolouration of the guacamole.
