Over 1,000 merchants now on Galaxus marketplace

Galaxus is the new number one for sports equipment in Switzerland. The country’s largest online department store not only impresses with over 150,000 sports articles but also a rapidly growing overall product portfolio. By the end of the year, three million products are expected to be available on Galaxus.
Looking for a last-minute fan shirt to support your country at the world cup? Then Galaxus is the right place for you. Likewise if you’re escaping to the high mountains to avoid the collective football hysteria. Switzerland’s largest online department store is the country’s new leader when it comes to sports articles. To put it in numbers: galaxus.ch now features over 150,000 sports articles – and the number keeps rising. Especially the product groups sportswear and sports shoes have increased their depth of range since the beginning of the year. They now comprise over 60,000 or almost 20,000 articles, respectively.
This rapid expansion has been possible thanks to the many merchant partners who have been presenting their products on Galaxus since the beginning of this year. In addition, the existing partners are constantly expanding their product ranges. Most recent additions include the sports specialists Ochsner Sport and Taurus. German merchants Bergzeit, Outfitter, Bikester and Campz have also massively contributed to this range expansion. «Together with our partners, we can offer our customers a first-class sports equipment range on galaxus.ch», says Stefan Fraude, Head of Marketplace at Digitec Galaxus. «When it comes to product quality and range volume, we’re already playing in the big leagues.»
Maximilian Hofbauer, managing director at Bergzeit, is excited about the cooperation: «Galaxus is an ideal partner for us. This partnership gives us the chance to position our brand and our extensive mountaineering range across the border and to gain experience with the demanding Swiss customers.» Kloten-based team and running sports specialist Taurus paints a similar picture: «Through Galaxus, we are now reaching over one million regular customers. In one swoop, we have gained access to a huge market», says managing director Fredi Egger.
And it’s not just Galaxus’ sports article range that is on a growth curve but the overall product portfolio. Over the last six months, Galaxus has taken over 70 new partner companies on board of their merchant programme. These companies all meet the highest quality demands in terms of range, product information and technological know-how. Over the same period of time, Galaxus’ range has almost doubled and now includes over 1.8 million articles. By mid-year, over 2 million products are expected to be available from the online shop. By Christmas, the e-commerce company is aiming to hit the 3 million mark. «We want to provide our customers with the perfect combination of a wide range, fast delivery times, high availability and attractive prices», says Stefan Fraude.
