Galaxus election poll: what’s up in Switzerland’s greenest village?
by Simon Balissat
On 22 October, Switzerland will elect a new National Council and Council of States. That’s why Valentina and I set out on an investigative mission to zoom in on the political mood in communities that stood out in 2019 – warts and all. This time, we went to Horrenbach-Buchen BE, the municipality with the highest SVP voter share of 84.1 per cent. For English subtitles, click the gear icon, «Subtitles/CC» and «Auto-translate».
Horrenbach-Buchen is located on the border with Emmental in the district of Thun. A one-lane road leads to the village. To be precise, Horrenbach-Buchen isn’t a village, but rather two hamlets that form a community. This didn’t make the second part of our election poll any easier, as you’ll see in the video.
Are you surprised by what we found? Or are you an SVP voter yourself and a fan of DJ Tommy’s current election campaign song? Or do you reckon we should keep our hands off politics in general? Share your opinion in the comment section!
In the first part of our election poll, we took a trip to the greenest village in Switzerland.
When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
