From abelia to witch hazel: a new marketplace retailer expands the plant range

Around 200 new shrubs have recently been added to the Galaxus range. Zulauf AG offers popular ornamental shrubs, hedges and fruit trees.
Does your garden need an upgrade? Does your balcony deserve some greenery? Is your patio still missing a leafy eye-catcher? If the answer to any of these questions is "yes", it's worth taking a look at the range from our new marketplace retailer Zulauf AG. The Swiss nursery offers a wide - and colourful - range of shrubs. Here are three that caught my eye while browsing, partly because the cherry trees are in bloom here at the moment.
You can find many other woody plants, both native and exotic, in the shop. All plants are accompanied by a detailed description, care tips and information on the ideal location, water requirements and growth height. Hopefully you will find the right product for you.
Fitness cure in the plant nursery
Zulauf AG has its headquarters and production facility, if you can call it that for plants, in Schinznach-Dorf (AG). I spoke to Co-Managing Director Johannes Zulauf about the special features that are important when buying plants in an online shop.

Johannes, how are your plants shipped?
Shipping a plant is indeed a challenging task. All plants ordered from us are packed upright in suitable cardboard boxes and padded all round to prevent them from falling over. Our delivery partners are obliged to store and deliver the plant boxes as they are collected. For larger orders or for very different plants, the plants are packed in several containers.
And how long does it take for a plant to reach me?
The delivery usually reaches our customers within seven working days, often it takes less.
Where are the plants bred and grown?
We buy young plants from specialised nurseries, usually in Switzerland. They arrive at our nursery and are re-potted if necessary. They are then given a place in the cultivation areas and grow here under the best conditions for at least one vegetation cycle before they are sold.
So they are made fit.
You could say that, yes. Many plants are with us for several years, are cared for, repotted and pruned if necessary. This gives them the best possible start; they are healthy, strong and resilient when they are delivered.

What about environmental friendliness?
Most of our plants are Suisse-Guarantee certified. This means that they are produced by us in Schinznacher-Dorf in the canton of Aargau in accordance with an ecological and economical production standard that stipulates various environmental protection and occupational health and safety requirements. Our tree nursery also uses mostly organic, sustainable plant protection products.
Are there any guarantees that the plants you buy will not die?
We cannot guarantee that the plants will not die. But if they are planted, watered and cared for in accordance with the instructions that come with each plant, then you're off to a good start. Plants are living beings, they have different requirements in terms of light, moisture and soil conditions. A plant for sunny locations will not survive for long in a shady spot. It is therefore important to know the needs of the plant and take them into account. Our plants are healthy and strong and, with the right care, will live long and thrive splendidly.
