Epilator tested by Kassensturz: these are the results
The SRF programme "Kassensturz" and the consumer magazine "Saldo" had eight epilators tested. The criteria used to test the hair removal devices and the results are shown here.
The conclusion of the test is clear: not all epilators tested performed well. Only three hair removers were convincing. One even failed completely. Even though most of the devices work and remove hair thoroughly, they do not do this equally well everywhere. Epilating on the legs is the best and most pain-free with all tested epilators. In the bikini line and under the armpits, however, most devices plucked out less hair than on the legs, but caused more pain.
How it was tested
The testers also assessed the handling of the devices (15% weighting). In other words, how the epilators can be guided, whether they glide smoothly on the skin and how conveniently the switches are positioned.
The test devices also measured how long a battery charge lasts when using the maximum operating level.
