«Cycle Week» in Zurich: a must for bike fans

From 4 to 8 August, Zurich is taken for a spin. The «Cycle Week» is the biggest bicycle event in Switzerland and takes place in Zurich. This year it replaces the «Urban Bike Festival» and the «Bike Days», which are usually held in Solothurn.
The bicycle symbolises sport and leisure, lifestyle and mobility. During «Cycle Week», which takes place from 4 to 8 August in Zurich, you get the chance to experience firsthand where the industry’s journey is heading. The event featuring an exhibition and a bicycle party, replaces the 2009 established «Bike Days» in Solothurn, and the 2016 (article in German) «Urban Bike Festival» in Zurich. Enough safety distance has been taken into account, nevertheless the event brings together the most important aspects of the scene.
Cycling and watching
During the «Cycle Week», try as much as you can. Try test bikes and accessories of all kinds, sharpen your senses for danger on the safety course or complete an e-bike training course. There will be mountain, gravel and road bike workshops, a kids race and a bike control course for children, to just name a few events. Whether you want to pedal yourself, screw or tinker – from service workshop to bag patching – everything is included.
If you’d rather watch, there is enough entertainment, too. Athletes take centre stage at the «Urban Cyclocross» cycling race around Josefwiese in Kreis 5, the «ZüriDirt Contest» at Züritrails Jumppark and the Talent Scouting Days by Swiss Cycling. There is also a beauty contest. The «Bike Lovers Contest» honours the craftiest bicycles.

Venues and registration
The venues are Europaallee, Brunau, Josefwiese, Jumppark Sihlcity and the surrounding MTB, gravel and road routes. Admission is free, but you have to register in advance for admission to Brunau, Jumppark Sihlcity and for test rides. If you register for a workshop or ride, the venue ticket is automatically included.
If you’re out of town or want to avoid crowds, there’s daily live streaming on the «Cycle Week Channel» that you can watch on your time. Being there in no matter what form is worthwhile. This unique event is a must for all bike fans.
