Coloured ceramics: white plates are passé
Snacking from other people's plates is not a good idea. But taking inspiration for your own table setting is.
Despite their different cuisines, the Zurich restaurants I visited recently have one thing in common: their crockery. They seem to have embraced the designs of designers who are increasingly bringing coloured plates onto the market instead of white ones. Much to my delight, as this opens up unconventional possibilities for creating a feast for the eyes when setting the table.
Here I show you how colourful the new tableware sets are with dining plates. If you are looking for matching breakfast plates, bowls and co., click through the entire range or type in the desired series in the search field.

1. earth tones
For me, earthenware in brown, red or ochre radiates warmth, even on a concrete table. Even small additions such as wooden spoons and sticks make your table setting look even more inviting.

2. shades of blue
Although I find this colour scheme cool, I counteract it by combining it with reddish textiles such as napkins. If you have a wooden table, blue plates automatically look warmer.

3. shades of grey
Grey tableware sets are just as cool. To avoid sending shivers down your guests' spines, counteract this by combining them with brass cutlery and warm colours such as beige or Bordeaux. Of course, it can also be nice to arrange a table setting tone on tone. It becomes cosy in combination with candlelight.

4. motifs
Painted ceramics are not new, but they are bold. I used to avoid it because I was worried that I might not like it at some point. Now I'm trying my hand at individual plates and combining them with plain-coloured ones. Because even single motif plates make a place setting an eye-catcher without the need for additional decoration.

5. shades of green
Just like plants, plates in green also have a revitalising effect. Salads look crisper on them and spring arrives in the dining room regardless of the temperature.
