Bricklive 2018: A must for every LEGO fan

The Bricklive trade fair is taking place in Basel until 29 April. Visitors young and old can admire countless LEGO creations and special exhibitions, build their own constructions from over 2 million LEGO bricks and, with a bit of luck, become a Bricklive Master.
A lot of LEGO awaits you at the Bricklive in Basel. No matter where you look, you will come into contact with the little bricks. There are several different exhibition areas waiting for you to explore. These range from a safari area to LEGO pools full of bricks and a shopping zone. Here at the Bricklive, you can immerse yourself completely in the LEGO world and forget everything else.
Safari
This year's Bricklive features a huge safari section with 82 life-size figures and statues made from thousands of LEGO bricks. The largest figure is a 1.5 tonne elephant. It consists of 271,739 LEGO bricks and took 1,600 hours of labour to assemble.

Whether in the Indian jungle or the African savannah. Here you can immerse yourself in a distant world. Take part in the penguin challenge, for example, and try to find out how many penguins are on display. This is also a task for the Bricklive Master. But more on that later.
AFOL's fan zone
AFOL what? Never heard of it? AFOL stands for Adult Fan of LEGO or adult LEGO fan. In this area of the exhibition, your own creations take centre stage. Here you won't find LEGO off-the-shelf products, but unique pieces that you won't find anywhere else in the world.

Whether it's a Nepalese temple, Technic vehicles or entire cities, you'll find all kinds of things in the Fanzone. You can marvel at the buildings up close and talk to the builders. Perhaps one or the other will inspire you to tackle a project like this yourself.
LEGO pools
Of course, your creativity should not be neglected at a trade fair like this. That's why there are several pools filled with LEGO bricks ready for you in the exhibition halls. There are a total of five pools with 200,000 bricks each, with each pool having its own colour. There is no time limit. Whether you're young or old, you can let off steam and build for as long as you like.

If you're feeling particularly brave, take off your shoes and walk over the LEGO bricks in your socks. Suppress the pain and enjoy your time in the LEGO land of milk and honey
Bricklive Master
Do you have what it takes to become a Bricklive Master? Then prove it and master at least eight of fourteen tasks at the fair. At the entrance, you will receive a stamp booklet explaining the tasks. One such task may be to build a small LEGO car or to construct your house out of LEGO on a large map of Switzerland. The tasks take about 15 minutes each. So take your time, because not everyone can become a Bricklive Master.
Once you have completed at least eight tasks, you will be rewarded with a photo of yourself as proof that you are a true Bricklive Master.
Other attractions
There are many other great things to discover at the Bricklive. For example, there is a race track where you can put your self-built LEGO vehicles to the test. You can also let off steam with Minecraft. Either with real LEGO bricks or on the computer with a mouse and keyboard. There are also shopping stands at the fair. They offer you exotic LEGO products as well as the latest novelties for sale. Can't find your dream set? Not so bad. You're guaranteed to find it in our LEGO range.
