Birkenstock trend: the orthopaedic shoe now in fashion

From orthopaedic shoe to hipster favourite: Birkenstock has shed its hippy image and made its way not only into the wardrobes of stars and celebrities, hipsters and influencers, but also into the feet of the Swiss.
Birkenstock, the traditional brand from Vettelschoss, has been around since 1774. The orthopaedic shoe has long been decried as a shoe for environmentalists and was still considered a purchase made by the health-conscious. In 2013, fashion fans were, for the first time, challenged by the brand thanks to Phoebe Philo, Céline's chief designer. Instead of parading her models in high heels, she put the legendary Birkenstocks on their feet. After various designers adopted this trend, it conquered the well-known fashion chains. We just kept copying.
However, I find that there is no substitute for originality.
The models
With "Arizona", the best-selling model, you can't do anything wrong. It's unisex and available in a range of colours. Whether it's classic black, two-tone or shiny rose gold, there's something for everyone. If these sandals are too classic for your tastes, you can let yourself be won over by the "Madrid" or "Gizeh" models.
The look for Him
On hot summer days, you can easily combine Birkenstocks with shorts and a T-shirt. When it starts to get cooler, jeans or cloth trousers and a shirt are the ideal choice. The more courageous can also wear colourful socks. Still not sure how to wear sandals? Then check out more looks under "Men in Birkenstock".

The look for Elle
Birkenstocks go with almost everything. With a straw hat and a light dress, you can wear your sandals to the beach as well as to an aperitif. When the weather cools down, trousers come into play. You can create a style breakthrough by wearing materials rich in contrast. How about silver Arizona with joggers or denim Birkenstocks with a smart two-piece?
