That's right, autumn has (finally) arrived! Fortunately, I thought of you and gave you an excuse to be ready.

You've probably already noticed... Luca Fontana, editor at digitec, has a favourite subject: televisions. And recently, it was mainly OLED televisions that occupied his days. They are ready to do anything to convince us of their unequalled performance.

OLED vs. QLED: battle of the TV technologies

If you're not yet convinced and don't know what you could do with such a monster in your salon, he's ready to give us advice on how to adapt the content. Oh yes, it's becoming impossible to watch publicity or even certain regional news on an ultra HD screen.

Watching TV in Ultra HD resolution: Here's how!

    by Luca Fontana

For my part, it's all very clever. An OLED TV has been sitting in my living room for almost a year, joining the NVIDIA streaming box, the Shield.
I have to admit that I wasn't very happy at the beginning, but it's not really me who buys the electronics in the house... Passing from a small 32 inch LED TV to a 55 inch OLED, it's a real sacrifice, especially for the budget.

I'm here and I'd like to share with you a few ideas of French-speaking Youtubers to watch on your new TV (or not).

For the épicuriens

But Alex is French (you'll recognise this from his accent) and makes videos about cooking. His aim is to demystify the sacred French cuisine.

You will find short and captivating videos to learn more about the different cépages, wines, but also some bizarre vinicoles such as this vin bleu.

The over 30s ploughed through their souvenirs and the youngest discovered the "real télé". They enjoyed themselves, even before the invention of the reality of television. After all, one says well that nothing is worth the cuisine of our grandmothers.

Who has never watched episodes of "C'est pas sorcier" in science classes? Don't worry, they haven't completely disappeared from circulation, you can find your favourite episodes on their chaîne Youtube.

Emmenez-moi...

Axolot is a YouTube channel about travelling like no other. Patrick Baud, host of the programme, has chosen to show us the different cities, regions and people from different angles and presents us with the curiosities he comes across during his "Étranges escales".

Are you a Robinson Crusoé en herbe? Or are you one of those who prefer to be prepared for the end of the world? You'll find everything you need on Primitive technology. Cette chaîne is in a way a guide to survival in the jungle. Plus, the videos are in muettes, so there's no language barrier! Certainly, the Swiss mountains don't offer us the same conditions or resources, but at least you'll be on hand in case of trouble on a desert island.

Apprendre en s'amusant

I am a big fan of the Franco-American channel Arte, I find the programmes very interesting and, above all, adapted to all ages. You can find, especially on YouTube, the broadcasts Tu mourras moins bête, a programme of scientific vulgarisation that answers the questions of the viewers.

Finally, the channel Nota Bene explores history through historical locations and themes as varied as they are inattendant: badass wars, pop culture, cuisine, myths and legends, documentaries and videos for children.

The list is certainly not exhaustive and corresponds to my tastes.

Tell us about yourself...

What do you do when the weather isn't cooperating?

  • Je regarde des vidéos Youtube.
    55%
  • Netflix! Rien de mieux qu'une bonne série.
    48%
  • Playstation, Xbox, PC... Je joue!
    73%

The competition has ended.

What I like to transmit is my love for French, my mother tongue. I love figures of speech, bon mots and spoonerisms. I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar, and I don't hesitate to come to the rescue of my colleagues when they need it. As a fastidious translator, I bend over backwards to respect the constraints of the profession.
After a day of work spent laughing at my colleagues' jokes, I ride my bike home, my favorite mode of transportation, to play Sims and get cooking. No recipe scares me and my cooking reflects my curiosity: falafels, mogettes, moussaka, sautéed rice, beef noodles, ceviche... Maybe I should let the other translators of the team taste my dishes?
