The latest Galaxus TV adverts went live some time ago. Once again, an embellished advertising world was taken for a ride. A look behind the scenes.

The 40-second advert and all accompanying advertising materials are the result of weeks of work, including planning, filming and post-production. We accompanied the team behind the scenes with the camera on one of a total of three shooting days. Watch the video above and find some impressive facts about the advert below.

Facts about the advert

  • The TV adverts, including e-panels and posters, were created over three days of filming
  • The film was shot in 8k resolution with a RED WEAPON MONSTRO 8K
  • The aerial shots were taken with a Freefly Alta 6 drone
  • A total of over 900 minutes of raw footage at 3.55 GB per minute (from drone and RED WEAPON MONSTRO) had to be processed
  • Almost 100 volunteer extras were on site for the Monday night spot
  • A total of ten actors and models were cast for the lead role and five for the supporting roles following a strict pre-selection process

A lot of work, even behind the camera

What happens in front of the camera is what you ultimately see in the finished advert. What happens behind the camera is just as exciting. That's the director, his assistant, the production manager and the production manager, as well as the producer in action. The camera crew consists of the cameraman, several assistants, a so-called gimbal operator and a drone operator. Lighting? Yes, the head lighting technician and his team take care of that. And of course the sound man and his team are also on duty. There are also stylists, costume and make-up designers, people responsible for sets and props and, finally, extras support.

At midnight, all the scenes are in the can. After a long day of filming, the crew is satisfied with the result. Another five months or so pass before the finished advert finally appears on TV screens. During this time, the various cuts are made, the colours edited and the sound designed. In mid-March, the new campaign is launched and the advert is shown on TV for the first time.

As a Multimedia Producer, preparing multimedia content and knowing about cutting-edge technology is my business. My main focus at digitec is producing videos. I can’t wait to try out new products such as cameras, drones or smartphones as soon as they’re launched. This is where being at the source comes in rather handy. When I’m not working, I’m probably skiing, biking or hiking – the mountains are my place to be.
