Red lips are meant to be kissed! Nothing is as timeless as red lipstick. The red eye-catcher is a favourite for festive occasions and everyday wear. However, there are many things to consider when applying lipstick. Find out how to conjure up the perfect kissable lip and which shade of red is suitable for your skin type.
Every month, you will find new tips, do's and don'ts, interesting facts and much more about a beauty classic on our website.
From bright cherry to elegant merlot, this classic is on trend and makes lips stand out. The first twist-up lipstick was launched back in 1923. Thanks to its success, all the major labels, such as Chanel, were selling their own lipsticks within a very short space of time. Over the years, lipstick and the colour palette have continued to evolve. Find out which colour is best for you and much more here.
If you have dark hair, a light complexion and blue, green or grey eyes, you belong to the Snow White type. For this type, the brighter the red, the better. When buying, make sure you choose a cool but rich red colour, e.g. a cherry red. You should steer clear of warm shades with an orange tinge.
Do you have fair skin, blonde hair and light-coloured eyes? Then you belong to the Nordic type. Don't go for bright colours so that the contrast isn't too strong. Subtle colour nuances are more flattering for your type. Create subtle accents with shades such as rosé, strawberry and rosewood. If you have reddish hair or freckles, more intense colours with a slight orange tint will suit you.
Brown or olive-coloured eyes and dark hair? Then you're a Mediterranean type. Almost all colour nuances suit you, but especially warm shades of red and berry tones
.
Black eyes, dark brown eyes and a sun-kissed complexion - dramatic shades of red suit you, even if they are a little darker. Bordeaux or carmine red suit your skin type. Avoid bright colours that fade into pink or orange as well as brownish shades.
There are many different variants in the world of kissable lipsticks. No matter what you're looking for, you'll find it. It doesn't always have to be the classic lipstick that complements your make-up
Matte lipstick: Gives lips a matte texture and is usually highly pigmented.
Glossy lipstick: Gives the lips shine and a creamy, nourishing feel.
Lip gloss: Stands for eye-catching shine, moisture and volume.
Transparent lipstick: Looks natural, has a subtle shine and adds suppleness.
Pearlescent lipstick: Let's shine! Gloss and shimmer for your lips.
Tip your foundation brush into your primer and apply it to your lips. This step fills in small lip lines, making your lipstick less likely to settle. Advantage number two: the colour lasts better and longer.
The contour pencil prevents the colour from fraying. Draw a line from the centre to the corner of the mouth right at the edge of the lip. Make sure you don't colour beyond this. Widen the line and smudge it inwards, otherwise it will lift away from the lipstick later on.
Whether with a brush or directly with the lipstick: paint your lips with colour and don't forget the corners of your mouth.
Gently press a tissue onto your lips and remove any excess colour. Dust transparent powder around the edge of the lips to prevent colour from bleeding.
This colour is perfect for really bright red lips like Marylin Monroe. [[product:5950056]]
