If you've always wanted to own a battle robot, now is your time. There's one for sale on eBay that's out of this world.
Its name is Eagle Prime. An American-made robot with a combat weight of 15 tonnes. The monster is powered by a 430 hp Corvette engine. In addition to a gripper arm that can easily lift a car, Eagle Prime has a 200-kilogram knife, a huge drilling device and a double cannon that can also be used as a battering ram. You can see what this looks like on sale in the following video.
Since his current owner MegaBots had to file for bankruptcy, he turned his entire inventory into cash. This includes Eagle Prime. Anyone with enough small change can bid on Ebay. The starting price on 23 September was a single dollar. In the meantime (as of 26 September) there are already over 80 bids and the price currently stands at 70,000 US dollars. The auction runs until 4 October. Don't forget the transport fees in the bidding frenzy. Transporting such a huge thing from the USA to Switzerland can quickly cost 50,000 francs. But you'll also get a Cockpit with the following view:
If Eagle Prime is too unwieldy for you, then the autonomous walking robot from Boston Dynamics is more up your street. The robotics company from Massachusetts presented the little "Spot" to the world this week. This manoeuvrable fellow overcomes any obstacle with ease, runs around for 90 minutes at a time with an electric motor and can withstand temperatures of -20 to 45 degrees Celsius.
Spot is to be used wherever the risks to humans are too high. This could be in the construction of buildings, oil or gas production facilities or in public safety. If you want, you can also keep it as a pet. There's something about a cute little electric dog like that. Boston Dynamics has not yet announced a purchase price, but it should be cheaper than the Eagle Prime from MegaBots.
