A garment bag as the new It Bag - is it okay?

News from "Fashion Pieces the world doesn't need"... or the cheapest trend bag ever?
No sooner have I got used to the minimal space available in micro bags and reduced my daily belongings to a minimum than a new trend follows. Or should I rather say flop?
Once again, a fashion designer has taken the cake: Garment bags are the new it bag. The trend was pioneered by fashion designer Alexander Wang, who debuted his "Collection2" in December. The models didn't walk down the catwalk with chic handbags - after all, anyone can do that! - but with garment covers as a substitute for bags. [[image:19656824,19656825]] [[small:]]
I had to look twice when I saw Wang's collection online. Because clothes covers are something I've only ever used when travelling, if at all, to ensure my silk blouses and dresses arrive at their destination crease-free, or for particularly delicate pieces in my wardrobe. I would never think of using it as a handbag. Have you ever used it to get on a tram or bus after visiting a dry cleaner? Exactly. Totally impractical, especially during rush hour. Let alone when you're cycling. [[image:20262415]]According to Alexander Wang, you swing the trend bag casually over your shoulder. Not.
How suitable is this thing for everyday wear?
I'll make a long story short: not at all. With a garment bag as a handbag, I feel like Mary Poppins rummaging in the depths of her magical bag to conjure up all sorts of things. Sure, there's plenty of room, but the inside of a garment bag has no compartments or anything else. So chaos is inevitable. Because everything you put in it ends up on the floor. Have fun untangling it.
Well, the designer models from Alexander Wang aren't just any clothes bags, but are made from leather. They probably have an inner compartment or two. But even then, I can only laugh at this trend and prefer the minimal space of my little mini bag. [[image:19849829]]Yes, rummaging through the garment bag is just as uncomfortable as it looks
