5 tips for your holiday in Balconie

If you're not planning to go away this summer, you can recreate the holiday atmosphere on your balcony or terrace in just five steps.
There are many good reasons to holiday in Balconie: no suitcases to pack, no culinary mistakes possible and no overpriced travel tickets. But in this article, we focus on furnishings, which will serve you far longer than a hotel room. With five tips, we show you how to spread the holiday 'vibes' in no time at home.
Tip no. 1: outdoor carpet
The floor of your balcony has more effect on your well-being than you might think. A stone or poured floor is not only hard, but also cool. Outdoor rugs are very much in vogue and give a pleasant feeling. They are almost a substitute for a sandy beach, and even have an advantage over it: they prevent small stones and sand from getting trapped between your toes. They come in countless colours and designs. Thanks to their special material, they are resistant to outdoor conditions. You can also combine several rugs and layer them to create a patchwork.

Tip #2: plants
You can recreate a tropical jungle on the balcony with horizontal planting at balustrade level or with vertical flower pots against the side walls. You can really let your imagination run wild: use ladders, broken branches or even old harrows. Trellises are also perfect for vertical green spaces. They also provide shade and a little privacy.

Tip no. 3: textiles
In the density of the city, you're well aware of the problem with your balcony: the lack of privacy. If the deserted beach isn't there, you can fix a curtain next to a green plant. Curtains with a high plastic content are weather-resistant and are available in a wide variety of designs. Thanks to their thicker or thinner fabric, you can control the amount of light that needs to pass through the curtain. You can also open and close the curtain at will, allowing you to decide what you want to share with your neighbours and what you don't.

Tip #4: 2-in-1 solution
Most balconies are short on space. When it comes to furniture, often the less the better. Multifunctional furniture can be a big help. Our favourite: the wooden chest. It stores cushions and everything else you need for comfortable sunbathing. At the same time, it doubles up as an extra table or seat. Whether it's modern or vintage-looking, there's something for every taste.

Tip no. 5: lighting
Whether on holiday or at home - on a balmy summer's night, you like to stay longer in the fresh air and listen to the chirping of crickets. Lanterns accompany these convivial moments and turn your balcony into a real focal point. Their soft light creates a romantic atmosphere at night. If you prefer things a little more showy, you can combine different things: on the top edges of string lights, on the floor lanterns and, for one-off highlights, candle holders in the branches of your olive tree or on the dining table.
