4 tips to protect yourself from the sun

At the water's edge, where the sun is particularly strong, it's a good idea to protect yourself from the sun. Below you'll find 4 important tips on the subject of sun protection.
In summer, we spend a lot of time outdoors and enjoy sunbathing in the garden, in the park, by the lake or by the sea.
Particularly in summer, UV rays are very intense. So it's even more important to protect our largest organ, our skin, and not to overexpose ourselves to the sun.
Tip 1: apply cream in advance
Already put on the sun cream (minimum SPF 30) in the morning, before getting dressed and before lunch, as the cream needs at least 30 minutes to penetrate the skin and work. Don't forget particularly sensitive areas such as the ears, nose, décolleté, nape of the neck and shoulders - also think about the bend of the knee and the feet.
Tip 2: find a spot in the shade
When it's very hot, it's advisable not to expose yourself to direct sunlight to avoid sunstroke. The best thing is to find a spot in the shade of a tree under which you can spend the day by the water. Even better is to have your own parasol so that you don't always have to run for shade. To protect your head from the sun, a hat helps - think about it, especially when playing sports such as volleyball. It's particularly important not to blast yourself in the midday sun.
Tip 3: the quality of sunglasses is important
Don't forget to protect your eyes from the sun's rays. The CE mark and the annotation "100% UV protection up to 400 nanometres" is very important for sunglasses. The lenses should not be too small to protect against the sun's rays coming from the sides. Don't overlook the colour of the lenses - brown and grey tones are ideal in this case.
Tip 4: renew sun protection
Sun protection should be renewed every 60 minutes or so. With perspiration, swimming and drying, the protective effect of sun cream diminishes. Reapply cream to maintain the cream's protection and thus avoid sunburn.
Babies and young children have a particular need for sun cream. For the first twelve months, they should not be exposed to the sun! From their second year, little ones can go out in the sun a little, but always well protected with clothing and appropriate sun protection. It is also important to ensure that sun creams specially dedicated to children are used.
