10 things you should definitely do in spring!

The start of spring usually brings the first sunny days and with them the ever-increasing desire to spend the days outdoors. In my opinion, you should definitely do the following things in spring. Let yourself be inspired!

1. go skiing one last time

To round off the winter, I have a tradition of going skiing one last time around Easter - in the sunshine. By lunchtime, I'm usually lying in a deckchair and on the journey home, I'm even happier to have finished the winter season and to be starting spring

2. the spring clean

This point is not quite as much fun, but once you've ticked it off, you can relax for longer. I understand spring cleaning to mean the following:

  • mop the floor
  • clean the windows (it's nice to be able to see outside again)
  • put away the winter clothes (ski gear, hats, boots, etc.) and dig out the light jackets
  • dust off and clean those corners and surfaces that you never pay attention to

3. spruce up the balcony and eat outside

This is something I personally love to do in spring. I give the balcony table and chairs a quick clean and sweep the balcony. Then comes the fun part: decorating the balcony. For example, I myself have a string of lights that I switch on every evening to create a lovely atmosphere. Of course, you can also buy candles, blankets and cushions specifically for the balcony - so that nothing stands in the way of a lovely evening on the balcony.
I always enjoy the first breakfast or dinner of the year on the balcony. You usually still need a blanket in the evening, but during the day the sun can shine quite strongly and warm you up.

4. Buying herbs and plants

I think it's great to grow your own herbs such as basil, rosemary, chives or thyme. Flowers in various colours also brighten up the home. However, you should wait until the Ice Saints in May before putting them outside, as frost can occur again at this time.

5. get your bike in shape and start your first bike tour of the year

Clean the bike, patch the tyres and lubricate the chain. For me personally, "buying a new bell" is also part of getting my bike in shape. My motto here is: the bigger and louder - the better, after all, I want people to be able to hear me well.

6. Treat yourself to your first ice cream

It's still far too fresh for your first ice cream. But it's still one of my top 10 spring activities. It just feels so good when you can enjoy the first rays of sunshine with an ice cream and get the feeling that summer won't be long in coming.

7. consciously enjoy nature

A walk or hike at the weekend is good for the soul and, of course, for your health. Try to consciously pay attention to nature and enjoy the blossoming trees and the first sprouting flowers. If you don't like walking, you can also discover inline skating. Personally, I also think that spring is a great time to take photos. Nature offers you many motifs now - you just have to pay attention and press the shutter release.

8. a picnic in the park

There's always something going on outdoors in spring. Grab a blanket and some sandwiches and have your first picnic in the park. You'll see that many people are already barbecuing and enjoying the spring sunshine. When I go on a picnic myself, I always take my own picnic basket, my picnic blanket and my little green kettle barbecue. I'm already pretty well equipped here, as I really like it when you can get together with friends, everyone brings something to eat & drink and you spend cosy hours together outdoors.

9. travelling

As a little globetrotter, a city trip in spring is simply a must for me. It's not necessarily warmer in most cities, but it's wonderful to see a city come to life in spring. Most restaurants and cafés now offer outdoor seating, you can discover the latest drink trends and the latest fashion collections. A shopping day is a must to stock up for the transition period. I can also recommend a beach holiday in the low season - that way you can benefit from cheaper tariffs and enjoy the empty beaches. Either way, make sure you have your camera with you.

10. springtime is motorbike time

Spring is the perfect time to get out and about on a motorbike. If you have a convertible, now is also the time when you can go "topless". There are plenty of excursion destinations in Switzerland, whether it's just a short trip to the zoo, camping or simply trying out a new restaurant. The options are open to you...
