Test diet drinks
Spring is not far off, which means that the diet season is approaching its peak. In recent years, over-the-counter diet drinks for losing weight have become increasingly popular. The powders can be mixed with water, milk or a plant-based drink and consist largely of milk and/or soya protein. In addition, there are legally prescribed amounts of vitamins and minerals for this product category plus - depending on the drink - sweeteners, honey or agave syrup powder, fibre suppliers such as oat fibre or inulin, flavourings and other additives. The mixed powder may not be a flavour highlight, but it is pretty convenient: the instant drinks are quick to mix and contain 200 to a maximum of 250 calories per serving, which means there is no need for tedious calorie counting and time-consuming cooking. But how good are the drinks really? We sent 17 diet drinks to the lab. Many products are contaminated with mineral oil. Eleven products failed with "poor" or "unsatisfactory", only two Multaben Figur vanilla flavour and Doppelherz aktiv slimming shake vanilla flavour made it to the grade "good".
