Ten warm down jackets for hiking, climbing and mountaineering
When it comes to down jackets, you want a warm jacket that weighs as little as possible, has a small pack size, looks good and is as inexpensive as possible. However, all of these points, especially the last one, cannot be combined. The warmest jacket tested was the Norröna Lyngen Down 850, which is also quite light at 385 grams and, although not cheap at 450 euros, costs less than some others - our test winner. The La Sportiva Supercouloir 1000 lives up to its name. It is very technical, especially warm on the torso and gets our tech tip. The Rab Mythic has the best weight-to-insulation ratio without any ifs and buts and therefore gets the weight tip. The price tip goes to the Patagonia Down Sweater, the jacket insulates well and, in our opinion, is fairly priced at 280 euros.
