Tested: 21 frequently purchased brands, including Rotkäppchen, Geldermann, Freixenet, high-priced brands such as Krimsekt and Menger Krug, as well as discounters (prices: €2.79 to €14.00 per 0.75-litre bottle). Conclusion: Good sparkling wine does not have to be expensive, but very good sparkling wine costs a little more. Five sparkling wines get top marks, four disappoint.
