Für manche sind Weichspüler schlicht überflüssig, für andere unverzichtbar. Im Test schneiden die meisten eher mittelmäßig ab. 21 Weichspüler hat die Stiftung Warentest geprüft, darunter bekannte Marken wie Lenor und Softlan sowie Handels- und Discounterware von Aldi, Edeka, Lidl & Co (Preise pro Waschgang: 2 bis 15 Cent). Nur sechs Produkte bekommen im Prüfpunkt Weichheit der Wäsche die Note Gut. Viele Produkte strapazieren auf Dauer Fasern und lassen Farben verblassen.
