They are criticized for being non-biodegradable, accumulating in the body, and being suspected of being harmful to health. VAUDE is committed to completely eliminating PFCs.

Green Shape is VAUDE's quality seal for products that are particularly environmentally friendly. This covers the entire production cycle from development to production and care, as well as recyclability after use. The criteria are strict. Products must consist of at least 90 percent organically grown cotton, recycled materials, or the wood fiber Tencel. Furthermore, they must be dyed using the environmentally friendly VAUDE eColour dyeing process or meet the world's strictest textile environmental standard, Bluesign.
