The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a globally recognized quality label for the processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibers. GOTS is considered a best practice example and ensures control over the entire textile chain. The standard covers the production, tailoring, packaging, labeling, trade, and distribution of all textiles that consist of at least 70% controlled organic natural fibers. The GOTS logo may only be applied when the entire supply and production chain is certified. There are strict guidelines regarding equipment and dyeing. Compliance with fundamental labor rights according to the core standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) is verified among processors and manufacturers. GOTS mandates the implementation of an environmental management system and wastewater treatment in the facility. Certain environmentally harmful chemicals are prohibited, and there are limits for residues in wastewater.
