Samsonite was founded in 1910 by Jesse Shwayder in Denver, starting with the production of heavy wooden trunks. The company was later renamed Shwayder Brothers, Inc. In 1941, it launched the Samsonite Streamline, a suitcase-like piece of luggage, which led to the development of the modern brand. Samsonite is now the global market leader in travel luggage. The product and/or packaging is made from recycled materials, which is more environmentally friendly as the raw materials do not have to be newly sourced with high effort. Yogurt cups, single-use bottles, plastic waste, and film packaging are incorporated into the manufacturing process through recycling.
