Additional jacket for nature hikes in light rain. Compact, lightweight, and breathable, this jacket offers excellent extra protection at the best price. The waterproofness of a fabric is achieved through a coating or a membrane and is measured in millimeters of water column. The higher the value, the more impermeable the fabric. This jacket is made from a waterproof-coated component (JIS 1092 standard) that withstands a water column of 5,000 mm before washing. The fabric used is highly breathable with a RET value of 12.

The RET test method (Resistance to Evaporative Transfer) is used to measure breathability. It assesses the material's ability to allow body moisture to escape. The smaller the RET value, the more breathable the material. RET < 9: extremely breathable fabric; RET < 12: very breathable fabric; RET < 20: breathable fabric; RET > 20: hardly or not breathable at all.

This rain protection is designed for a 2-hour hike at a maximum speed of 5 km/h without elevation changes. During physical activities, sweating varies depending on the intensity and duration of the exertion. If the fabric is not sufficiently breathable, water vapor condenses inside the jacket, making it damp from the inside even when it is not raining. Therefore, the jacket should be adjusted to the respective intensity.

To maintain the water-repellent impregnation, it should be refreshed regularly. We recommend reactivating the impregnation after three washes (thorough rinsing required) or after about ten uses in the rain. Water-repellent properties can be renewed using heat: place in the tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program); use a hairdryer from a distance of 20 cm with two passes; or use an iron on a low temperature setting without steam for two passes.
