This windproof jacket for regular hikes protects against moderate winds in dry weather. The highly breathable material with a RET < 9 ensures good ventilation in the back and underarm areas. It is ultralight, windproof, and can be packed small. The close-fitting cut provides high freedom of movement and light wind protection. The jacket can be combined with a second thin layer of clothing, such as fleece material.
Wind significantly increases the perception of cold. At an outside temperature of 0 °C and a wind speed of 20 km/h, the perceived temperature is -10 °C. Windproof components can reduce such wind chill effects. The wind does not penetrate, effectively preventing the loss of body heat.
The breathability of a fabric is determined by its water vapor permeability (RET, Resistance to Evaporative Transfer). According to ISO standard 11092, the higher the permeability, the less resistance the fabric offers to the water vapor produced during physical activity. Low resistance means high breathability.
