Both the nylon upper and the flexible synthetic rubber outer shell are waterproof and, along with the sealed seams, provide the best protection against wetness. Warmth, on the other hand, comes from the replaceable 6mm thick Zylex liner with moisture-absorbing inner lining. For size adjustment, there is a bungee closure around the midfoot and the snow collar can also be adjusted by means of a bungee closure. Rounding out the Southpole 4 is the Pioneer synthetic rubber outsole. This promises good grip, even when it threatens to become slippery.
