What makes them special?
Intelligent, technical insulation clothing has always been a hallmark of Houdini and is referred to as "precision insulation." The Men's Dunfri Shorts are designed for a dual purpose. The construction with full-length side zippers and durable outer material is intended to be worn over pants to provide extra warmth during start-stop activities like ski touring or climbing/belaying. However, the soft, smooth fabrics and high compressibility of the insulation also make them ideal as a layer under a shell pant on extremely cold days on the slopes.

How do they work?
The Men's Dunfri Shorts are insulated with Primaloft Gold. When it comes to insulation materials, the finer the fiber, the softer and more compressible the material. The padding used in the Dunfri series consists of ultra-fine synthetic fibers that are inherently hydrophobic, meaning the fibers themselves are water-repellent. The "loft" created by the fibers traps body heat in a soft, elastic layer of warm air that repels water while allowing moisture to escape from the inside out. The outer material, Switch Woven, is an incredibly robust yet lightweight fabric that withstands years of hard use. The lining is made from an ultra-light, smooth fabric called Spinner Ripstop. This combination of materials results in a highly packable, durable, and versatile garment that can be easily stowed in a backpack.
