The sweatshirt becomes a sweatshirt. The codes of athletics meet a sharper style with a half-side zipper made of stretchy cotton fabric, which is applied to a poplin shirt on the sleeves. I am interested in the tensions and parallels between formal and casual clothing, especially as they relate to identity, discipline, and subculture. I thought about tailored suits and banker shirts on one side and tracksuits and polo shirts on the other. This inspired me. It is literally an encounter between my world and my past experiences, as well as the DNA of Fred Perry. In my collections, I have often talked about how I want to offer young men their first suit. This collaboration positions itself precisely at the moment when tracksuits and tailored suits intersect.
