The Distance 8L backpack is designed for a niche that's yet to be filled. From flat valley trails that seamlessly transition into alpine terrain to high alpine adventures, this hybrid backpack combines running vest technology with extensive knowledge of alpine-ready carrying systems that need to be both ultralight and comfortable to keep you moving fast and unimpeded. The Distance is made from durable UHMWP 10x ripstop yarns, which are also used for Dogbones and Ultralight Camalots. In terms of weight, this fabric has 10 times the strength of steel, yet is light enough to float in water.

The shoulder strap system is made with seamless edge taping technology. This involves taping the edge of the shoulder strap, more in line with today's innovative sportswear than a traditional running backpack, offering greater comfort, freedom of movement, and lighter weight. The carrier system has also been designed with an adjustable elastic compression system on the side, which improves support when running over obstacles and climbing.

The vest-like system includes two compartments for two small hydration bladders (sold separately) and a deploy compartment for storing a wind shell. The Distance's main compartment provides quick access to the pack's contents and includes an integrated security pocket for small essentials, while a mesh divider can be used for a rep cord or water bladder that is compatible with the pack's tube routing.

On the outside of the Distance 8 are two ice tool holders and two compartments for stowing trekking poles when not in use. With two stretch compartments for stowing food or gear, the Distance 8 offers a comprehensive range of functions for mountain and trail running.
