Product details

With the Original Sandal, Berkemann offers a true classic, if not the precursor to all modern active shoes. Originally developed in the 1960s by Prof. Dr. W. Thomsen for Berkemann as a prophylactic tool against foot deformities in children, the Original Sandal quickly conquered the entire (adult) world within a few years. The principle of muscle training and strengthening while wearing the Original Sandal has remained unchanged to this day. Step by step, the leather strap and wooden sole work on the lever principle, thereby training the foot and calf muscles. Additionally, the integrated 5-phase footbed in the wooden sole supports the natural rolling motion of the foot, culminating in the toe gripping function, which activates muscle contraction in the foot and calf. Thus, the Original Sandal can also be seen as the smallest gym in the world that you can take with you anywhere.
