The Zweifel brand was founded in the 1950s when Hans Meier, a cousin of Heinrich Zweifel Sr., fried the first potato chips in a huge field kitchen pan on a farm near Rümlang ZH. What was originally intended as a way to boost sales for their homemade apple juice quickly became a customer hit. By 1958, the crispy chips were professionally launched under the Zweifel brand.
