Replacing the carbon filter
The activated carbon filter made of untreated coconut shells forms the last, final purification stage of your now pure drinking water. It catches volatile traces of hydrocarbons and also removes the last taste or odour impairments. The activated carbon filter should be replaced every 60-80 runs of 4 litres or every 2 months at the latest. If your distilled water already tastes or smells unpleasant earlier, it is also time to replace the carbon filter. With the initial equipment you get two activated carbon filters.
ATTENTION! If the carbon filter is not inserted correctly, water may leak out!
This is how you replace the activated charcoal filter:
- 1. remove the condensation chamber from the cooking vessel.
- Remove the old activated carbon filter from the condensation chamber (push it inwards towards the housing and pull it downwards) and dispose of it in the normal household waste.
- Remove the two seals from the top and bottom of the new activated carbon filter and run 1 to 2 cups of DISTILLED water through the filter. This will flush out small harmless carbon particles.
- Sterilize the new charcoal filter by placing it completely in boiling water for 5 minutes. Allow the filter to cool before installing and rinse again with DESTILLED water.
- Attach the new activated carbon filter to the condensation chamber (press inwards and upwards) and place the condensation chamber back on the cooking vessel.
