The company Thomy was formed in 1930 from the merger of H. Franck Söhne in Basel and the Helvetia factory of the Thomi and Meister families in Langenthal. At that time, mustard was still sold openly in large stone pots. However, Hans Thomi quickly realized that he needed special packaging for his mustard to stand out from his competitors. This marked the birth of the famous aluminum tube, a packaging method that was previously unknown in the food sector worldwide. But the new packaging offered another advantage that remains relevant today: products stay fresher for much longer in the resealable tube. To emphasize this innovation, Hans Thomi replaced the "i" in the name with the more internationally suitable "y." Based on their experience with mustard products, Thomy launched the first industrially produced mayonnaise in Europe in 1951. This was followed by other products such as tomato puree, dressings, light products, various sauces, organic items, and ketchup. Today, Thomy is part of the Nestlé Group and continues to ensure that the company lives up to the promise "Thomy makes more of it" every day.
