Distinctive, organically grown rooibos from the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa – digestible, fruity, and caffeine-free. The subtle tangerine note adds to the uniqueness of this blend. The rugged beauty of the Cederberg Mountain region in the southwest of South Africa is home to the rooibos plant – about 200 km north of Cape Town, around the towns of Clanwilliam and Citrusdal. It is found exclusively in this area worldwide, which is why it has become South Africa's national drink. The exact age of the red bush (Afrikaans rooi = red and bos = bush) is unclear, but it was first described as a medicinal plant by botanist Carl Thunberg in 1772. Unlike black or green tea, rooibos tea contains no caffeine and few tannins, preventing any potential effects such as bitterness or insomnia. To give the rooibos a more exclusive touch, we have blended it with a bit of hibiscus and tangerine, an Asian variety of the more familiar mandarin. The result is a wonderful tea with a delightful aroma that can be enjoyed even late in the evening.

Preparation

Rooibos should be brewed at a water temperature of 95–98°C (let the water sit briefly after boiling in the kettle until it stops boiling).
