The rivaALVA SKIN&HAIR EM filter cartridge is a sintered activated carbon block filter cartridge, which is enriched with EM ceramic powder during production (sintering process). EM stands for Effective Microorganisms. For the production of EM ceramics, a specially fired clay is used that contains organic material from plants that are millions of years old and are food for Effective Microorganisms (EM) during the fermentation process that lasts several months. EM ceramics causes, among other things, a reduction in the surface tension of the water and the reduction of cluster structures. The filter cartridge is food safe and is manufactured in Germany in an environmentally friendly way from renewable raw materials. The retention of pollutants is achieved by three active principles of the activated carbon: Due to the filter fineness of 10 µm, particles which are larger than the filter pores are retained. Based on the mechanical effect, suspended particles, rust particles and microplastics, for example, are retained. Due to the catalytic effect, certain substances such as chlorine and chlorine compounds can be converted. Through the adsorptive effect, further pollutants can be absorbed. In this case, they attach themselves directly to the activated carbon and remain there. Thanks to the adsorptive effect, organic compounds such as pesticides, heavy metals such as lead and copper, drug residues, hormones and taste-disturbing substances can be retained.
